Last Sunday saw the 3rd Mick Pritchard Memorial match take place on the River Wye. This match was open to Association members only and was a celebration of the life of our long serving and popular bailiff Mick. Forty anglers took part in the match which was fished on the Tennis Courts, Bartonsham and Eign sections. The river was low and clear with a height of 0.15m at Hereford Bridge.
The river fished well with Bartonsham providing several of the top weights. Winner Geoff Brierley used float fishing tactics to weigh in 50lb 6oz of chub, barbel and dace from a peg in the Withy Beds. Runner up was Dave Feeney who caught 45lb 2oz of float fished chub from a peg just below the railway bridge at Eign. Third was Dave Avery with 37lb 6oz of mainly chub who was also pegged at Eign on the Vinyard stream.Fourth was Bartonsham pegged Bryn Thomas with a weight of 35lb 4oz which included a barbel of 6lb 6oz.
Congratulations to the winners and all the other anglers who took part with the majority having a good days sport. Thanks go to Lee Pritchard- Woollett and Dave Brymer for organising the match and to the Brewers Arms for hosting the post match prize giving.
