Club Membership

Membership

The Association year runs from 1st January to 31st December. There is no reduction in subscription for joining later in the year.

There are two grades of membership available, “Full” for people living in the County of Herefordshire with an “HR” postcode, and “Associate” for people living elsewhere with a different postcode.

The number of members in any grade may be limited by the General Purposes Committee (GPC) at any time.

Currently all Adult membership applications and renewals are carried out by post only, although local anglers can leave their applications or renewals with a cash payment in a sealed envelope at either of the two local tackle shops in Hereford to be collected, processed and posted back or returned to the shop for collection. Please ensure all relevant items are included.

Applications for membership must be made on the form provided for that purpose, and MUST be accompanied by the appropriate Subscription fee, 2 loose recent passport sized photos and a STAMPED Addressed envelope size C5 (162mm x 229mm).  A Large Letter stamp should be used on both envelopes.

To qualify for Senior Citizen status, you must have been a member of the Association in the last year and be aged 65 or over on January 1st. Proof of status is required for Senior Citizen/Disabled applicants.

A Membership Application form for 2024 can be downloaded here

Membership forms can also be obtained from either of the two tackle shops in Hereford or from Alans Tackle in Worcester.

Junior anglers may join the Association by applying to either of the two tackle shops in Hereford.

Payment

Cheques or Postal Orders (payable to Hereford & District Angling Association)  must be sent with postal applications. Cash payment can also be used by  those applicants wishing to leave their application/renewal at the tackle shops.

Your application will not be processed unless ALL the above items are included. You must be in possession of your membership card before going fishing.

Please allow 15 days for processing of all applications.

There are four membership categories:

  • Full member: Those aged 18 to 64 on 1st January living in the County of Herefordshire with an “HR” postcode.
  • Associate member:  Those aged 18 to 64 on 1st January living outside the County of Herefordshire without an “HR” postcode.
  • Senior Citizen: Those aged 65 and over on 1st January. To qualify for Senior Citizen status, you must have been a member of the Association in the last year. Proof of status will be required.
  • Registered Disabled member: Proof of status will be required.

Membership shall be at the discretion of the Committee and all members must be in possession of a current Environment Agency Rod Licence when fishing club waters.

Renewals: All current members should receive the annual newsletter in early December together with a renewal form. Renewals will start to be processed during December but any cheques received will not be cashed until after January 1st of the following year. When sending your membership book back open it out so that the overall thickness of the filled envelope is less than 5mm and write your address on the back of the envelope. Every year we have several renewals from  anglers who cram everything into a small envelope which is thicker than 5mm. These incur excess postal charges and will be retained by Royal Mail and eventually be returned to sender. This process can take up to 6 weeks leading to delays in processing your renewal. The  Association will not pay excess postage charges.
