River Lugg – Shelwick

Brief description of fishery:

The river here is similar to the previous stretch at Wergin’s Bridge although there are fewer bends and more gravel runs. Again Chub, Barbel, and Dace are the main coarse species, with brown trout also present.

Access & Parking

The River Lugg at Shelwick is located off the road to Sutton St Nicholas approximately 4 miles North East of Hereford.

From Hereford:
Leave Hereford on the A465 towards Bromyard. Pass the railway station and continue up Aylestone Hill towards the colleges. At the top of the hill continue straight over and down the other side until you reach the next roundabout. Take the second exit signposted Sutton St Nicholas and continue along this road for 3/4 of a mile, you will see a bus stop on the right take the right-hand turn immediately after it. Follow the farm track to the end, and park at the end of the lane on the left avoiding any gateways.

From Worcester:
Follow the A4103 from Worcester to the outskirts of Hereford passing Luggs Mill Bridge just after the junction with the A465 to Bromyard. At the roundabout at the bottom of Aylestone Hill, take the third junction signposted Sutton St Nicholas and continue to Wegin’s bridge as above.
