Fishing during the heatwave – Friday 11th July 2025.
Friday 11th July 2025.
With the recent and current spells of very warm weather, H&DAA have been monitoring the current water levels and the accompanying water temperatures. At this point we do not intend to close our waters but we would appreciate members and day ticket holders using common sense if thinking about going fishing and refrain from fishing during the hottest parts of the day or even not go fishing until the weather and or river levels improve..Anglers should plan to fish either early morning or from early evening and not keep fish out of the water for longer than is strictly necessary. Keep nets should not be used. Please unsure any fish caught have recovered sufficiently to swim away strongly. This is particularly important with barbel who may take longer to recover. We do not want fish floating down the river, belly up, because they have not been given sufficient time to recover.
Temperatures are supposed to drop next week, but a further post will be published should conditions change forcing us to close our waters. Thank you for using common sense so that the fisheries can remain open.
