River Wye Running Line Challenge 2024 – Wednesday November 13th – Results

Wednesday 13th November 2024.

This inaugral match was the idea of match organiser Dave Roberts. The idea was to have a match where anglers could use any method provided that a reel was attached to a rod. There were 44 anglers booked in and they were met with a cold, bright morning with temperatures around 4C and a river running unseasonably low and clear at around 0.38m. Following the recent festival it was going to be interesting to see if the fish would continue to feed as well as they had done last week. At the draw at Hereford Rugby Club everyone was hoping to pick hot peg 96 between the bridges as this had featured strongly in the festival.

The lucky angler who drew this peg, was Hereford based Mike Mclaughlin who then proceeded to put 90lb 6oz of quality chub in his nets using waggler tactics and win the match. Runner up was Nigel Evans who was on peg 60 on the opposite bank. He weighed in 59lb 4oz of dace, chub and perch. Third with 47lb 14oz was Rob Brennan who was pegged upstream of Nigel on peg 57. All in all another good match  with some impressive weights.

Our thanks go to Dave Roberts for running another faultless match. Next up will be the 2 day Pairs match this coming  weekend on 16th/17th November. Full results below:
