Fish Welfare – Do I need to use 2 keepnets? 26/1/23

Thursday 26th January 2023

Due to the recent publicity about the recent 100lb+ weights being caught  in the Winter League matches from pegs on the Belmont section, many Members and Day ticket holders are taking the opportunity to fish this section. Fish welfare is a top priority so if you are using a keepnet on any of our waters please be aware that there is a rule stating that all fish retained in a keepnet must be released after a maximum of 6 hours. With some anglers fishing for up to 10hours in a session there is a high probability of a large weight  of fish being caught. If you are catching well please be mindful that you may need to use 2 keepnets and that you should not fill one net with more than about 50lb of fish and that all nets should be emptied after a maximum of 6 hours. The bailiffs will be monitoring the situation and may make spot checks. Your cooperation is appreciated to ensure we can continue to enjoy some spectacular fishing.
