ABC Baits Winter League Round 4 22/1/23

Monday 23rd January 2023.

Yesterday saw the fourth round of the ABC Baits Winter League take place on a river that had steadily dropped and cleared over the last week from over 4.5metres to 0.95metres.With recent overnight frosts and temperatures as low as -6C, it was likely to be feast or famine for many of the 72 anglers taking part, particularly those in “A” section at the top of Belmont. The noted pegs on the Asda bank were expected to produce but I don’t think anyone expected  three 100lb+ weights to be caught! Peg 96 between the bridges would have been expected to come up trumps again but it was peg 95 that produced the top weight of 141-0  to  Bob Giles (Woodys Bait tech) with peg Trevor Chalk (Wizards) coming second from peg 96 with 131-8. Third was Martin Challenger (Nomads A) from peg 79 with 101-12. Despite the freezing conditions the majority  of anglers fishing between the green bridge and the Old Wye Bridge caught well.

On the team front Woodys Bait tech ware top team on the day followed by DH Angling on 46points. On the league front DH Angling lead the way with 42 points ahead of Woodys Premier on 41 points. It is all to play for in the final round next  Sunday 29th January. Full results can be found below.
