Brief description of fishery:
Belmont Pool is situated in the Belmont Country Park on the southwest outskirts of Hereford. A very mature lake with a silty bottom, enclosed by trees on three sides. It was once surrounded by open fields but today the Belmont housing estate has engulfed these. The lake is split into two with a culvert underneath the country road dividing the two lakes. Only the northern part of the lake is available to fish. The lake contains carp, tench, perch, pike, roach, and rudd along with several terrapins which can often be seen basking in the sun on a fallen tree trunk. There is an island in the middle of the pool. The fish stock is largely unknown but the carp reach double figures and the tench have been caught to around 6lb. All the usual baits will work on their day. There are no formal pegs or platforms on the pool and there is a NO FISHING area along part of the northern bank. During periods of high water on the River Wye, the pool can change color to a rich reddish-brown. Fishing is permitted from sunrise to sunset only and is available to MEMBERS ONLY. There are 6 pegs available daily by prior booking. Details can be found in the rule book.
