The final match of the Summer series took place at the weekend with 8 anglers turning up for the draw. With the forecast for heavy thundery showers throughout the day, it was day where hopefully catching some fish would counter the thought of getting soaked.
Match winner was Hereford based Julian Shelby-James who was pegged at the far end of the pool. He put together an all carp catch to weigh in 62lb 12oz. Runner up was Ray Downey who weighed in 51lb 2oz of carp from a peg just below the island. Third was club bailiff Dave Tyler who weighed in 40lb exactly from a peg near the middle of the pool. Fourth was Tony Doyle who was pegged next to the winner. He weighed in 31lb 10oz. Again some good weights in this match despite the unpleasant weather for the anglers competing.
With the rivers now getting some much needed rain, attention now turns to the River Wye match season, kicking off this coming Sunday with the Mick Pritchard Memorial Match being fished on the Bartonsham, Eign and Field Farm sections. Any Association member interested in fishing this match should add a comment to the H&DAA Facebook post or contact bailiff Lee Pritchard for more information. All the dates for the Autum/Winter matches can be found on the website under the Matches tab.
