H&DAA end of season Club Match – 02/03/2025

Wednesday 5th March 2025.

The final Club match of the season took place on Sunday on the Tennis Courts and Bartonsham sections. Eighteen anglers took part and were met with a cold, frosty but sunny morning with temperatures having dropped to -3C overnight, but expected to reach 10C during the day, The river was running at about 0.98m and was continuing to clear and fine down after the rise the previous Sunday evening. Chub were likely to be the main species caught, but barbel were likely to feature as there was colour in the water.

Barbel did feature in the catches and winner Phil Amos managed to snare 7 from the middle of the Tennis Courts section to win the match with a weight of 30lb exactly. Runner up was Geoff Brierley who was pegged on the Bartonsham section. He weighed in 28lb 15oz of chub and barbel. Mike Mclaughlin finished  third with a chub bag of 23lb 12oz, also caught from Bartonsham with Kevin Dicks taking fourth place with 15lb 14oz consisting of 3 barbel, again from Bartonsham. Congratulations to all who took part.
