River Wye Feeder Championship – Sunday 9th February 2025.
Monday 10th February 2025.
Yesterday saw the third River Wye Feeder Championship take place across our waters from Belmont downstream to Field Farm. The 72 anglers taking part were faced with a clear cold river running around 0.78m at Old Wye Bridge with an air temperature around 4C. It was likely to be a feast or fammine match with most anglers hoping they would draw on the town stretch and get a few bites whereas those who drew on the out of town sections were likely to find bites at a premium.
As expected the pegs on the town section at Belmont below the old railway bridge fished well with those anglers pegged downstream of the Old Bridge struggling for bites in the majority of cases. Overall winner on the day was Tony Meissner from Ledbury who drew plum peg 96 on the right bank just upstream of the old bridge. Runner up was Doug Foreshew who was on peg 92. He weighed in 96lb 14oz. Trevor Bradley was third from peg 91 with 91lb, with Ant Taylor finishing fourth with 81lb from peg 89. The pegs in the 90s fished well with the fish obviously shoaled up between pegs 89 and 96. The best weight from the out of town sections was 32lb 4oz from Eign, caught by Geoff Brierley, while Martin Challenger included an 8lb bream in his net, also caught from Eign. Some good catches on the Belmont stretch as usual and with the weather remaining settled for the 2 day Spring Festival taking place this week, entrants will be hoping to draw a peg in the 90s and enjoy the fantastic fishing on offer.Full reults below:
