H&DAA end of season Club Match – 03/03/2024.
Monday March 4th 2024.
Yesterday saw 19 anglers take part in the last Club match of the season on the Tennis Courts and Bartonsham sections of the river Wye. They arrived at the draw on a cold, bright and frosty morning to find a river slowly dropping to around 1.6m at thre start of the match and carrying cold snow water with some colour. With these conditions, and with the majority of fish still on the Belmont sections, it was going to be a hard match. Chub and barbel were the target species using a heavy feeder to combat the flow.
The winner,.fresh from winning the Milo trophy for most individual points in the Winter League series, was Geoff Brierley who weighed in 6 or 7 barbel and a couple of chub for a total weight of 34lb 4oz. This was well clear of runner up Bob Giles who weighed in 19lb 1oz. Third was Kev Ellaby who managed a weight of 15lb 12oz and fourth was Gary Findlay who weighed in 10lb 8oz. All the top weights came from the Bartonsham section with the top weight on the Tennis Courts section being around 4lb. Well done to all who took part and to Pete Pembridge for running the match.
