The first of this season’s series of matches at Pencoyd pool took place on the last Sunday in March with 10 anglers turning up for the draw. As this was the first match of the season it was not known what to expect, but, with mild temperatures and a partially cloudy day forecast, hopes were high for some good weights with carp expected to dominate the weights.
The carp duly obliged with winner Tony Doyle weighing in several for a total weight of 36lb 12oz. from a peg towards the middle of the pool. Runner up was Dave Tyler who caught 5 carp to finish with 32lb 2oz.from the next peg to Tony. Third was Ray Downey who was pegged at the far end of the pool. He weighed in 17lb 3oz. Fourth was Dave Brymer who caught 2 carp to weigh in a total of 9lb. Well done to all who took part.
The next match at Pencoyd will be this coming Saturday 11th April with the draw at 8.30 am. Anyone interested in fishing should put their name on the list at Woody’s tackle shop or contact Pete Pembridge for further details.
