The Hydroscape group are encouraging anglers to report sightings of cormorants to them in order to map the number of cormorants present across the UK. They have developed an app which can be downloaded to your phone enabling you to record and report the number of cormorants you see whilst out and about. With hard evidence management licences are more likely to be approved to help conserve our fish stocks. The number of comorants in the UK has increased massively over the last few years. This includes on the Wye in Hereford and there are now between 30 and 40 birds actively fishing the river at Belmont on a daily basis, plundering the vast shoals of fish that overwinter here. Each comorant eats around 1lb of fish per day. and can quickly decimate a fishery.Without control the Wye could follow the demise of other rivers across the country, so please report your sightings.. Further details can be found  on their website  or Facebook page. Links below. Please share the links with your friends and encourage them to report sightings as well.
