With the cancellation of Round 3 of this league due to a flooded river, this last match of 2025 was eagerly anticipated. The river had been running high for several days at the beginning of the week due to persistant heavy rain in Wales, but was now starting to drop slowly following little or no rain in the last couple of days. With a height of around 1.6m at Hereford Bridge, an air temperature of around 9C, and not too much colour in the water, the signs were good with chub, dace , roach and perch expected to feed alongside the large shoals of bleak.
As is generally the case at this time of year, very few anglers would choose to fish “A ” section where bites are at a premium, instead preferring to be pegged below the old green bridge where weights are generally more consistant. As it turned out , all the anglers in “A” section managed to catch fish and contribute points to the team total but, as expected, most of the bigger weights came from the Asda bank or from peg 50 downstream on the opposite bank. Individual winner on the day was Mike Bedding (Cadence) who was on peg 80 on the Asda bank, just below the green bridge. He weighed in 62lb 8oz of mainly perch. Second place went to Trevor Chalk (Wizards) who was on peg 75 on the railings. He weighed in 62lb 4oz of chub and big perch. Third was Andrew Cranston (Nomads A) from peg 76. who caught chub, roach and perch to weigh in 60lb 12oz.
On the team front, Woodys came out top on the day with a total of 58 points, thanks to 2 section wins and 2 second places in their 6 man team. Second place on the day went to DH Angling who totalled 53 points, with Wizards taking 3rd place with 47 points. On the league front Woodys consolidated their place at the top and extended their lead with a perfect 36 points after 3 matches. Nomads A held on to second place with 29 points with DH Angling remaining in third place on 28 points just 1 point behind Nomads A. The next round is due to be fished in 2 weeks time on Sunday 4th January 2026. Can Woodys take maximum points again or are they unbeatable? Full results below:
