Yesterday saw the 3rd Running Line Challenge match take place on the match length at Belmont. This match only allows a rod and reel to be used either with a float, feeder or bomb. No poles or whips are allowed. The 43 anglers who turned up for this match were met with a river that was looking in fine fettle with a steady height of around 1.2m. However with heavy rain in Wales on Tuesday the river soon started to rise quickly after the all in at 10.30. and had risen a foot within an hour of the start. With this influx of water and the wet and windy weather on the day, it was going to be a difficult match with the river continuing to rise throughout the match with leaves and other debris making it difficult to present a bait as well as anglers having to move their kit further up the bank or risk it being swamped by the increasing current and water level.
As expected with a rising river, weights were generally on the low side but winner Trevor Chalk managed to snare a good bag of roach and perch from peg 87 on the Asda bank to weigh in a match winning 36lb 8oz. Runner up was Clive Branson who has on peg 55 on the opposite bank. He weighed in 28lb 4oz of bleak. Third was Russell Millward who weighed in 27lb 8oz from peg 91 on the Asda bank. Fourth place went to Doug Foreshew on peg 88 with a weight of 24lb 9oz. Next up will be the Pairs Match over the weekend of 22nd/23rd November. Full result below:
