Joe Burrows Charity Match 25/9/22
Sunday 25th September
Many thanks to Dave Roberts for running this match.
With a small rise in river levels and reports of plenty of fish feeding, hopes were high of some decent weights amongst the 70 or so anglers fishing. Dave Roberts pegged the match over the majority of the Club waters, leaving out the platforms on Belmont (too high off the water level), Fownhope and Holme Lacy. Some anglers faced quite a long walk from the parking areas and so cut down on the amount of tackle they took to their peg although a platform was needed on a lot of the shallower pegs.
Once again the river lived up to its reputation providing a string of high double figure weights with the lowest section weight being around 27lb. After a long walk to his peg in the Withy beds, Lee Edwards put together a match winning catch of 104lb 12oz made up of dace, chublets and a single barbel. This put him well clear of second placed Andy “Spud” Murphy who weighed in 92-8 from a peg at the bottom of the Tennis Courts. Third was Jim Burton who weighed in with 63-12 of chub from Breinton. Well done to all the anglers taking part with £700 being raised for the H&DAA charity fund.
